Good Day for a Swim - 06/28/2010 - photo by Will Yurman
My assignment this afternoon was to get a photo from the city’s spray parks or pools which opened for the summer. But it started to rain as I headed out. I stopped at a few spray parks but they were deserted, so I headed to one of the indoor pools and found three boys playing. Willie Johnson was leaning against the edge of the pool with what seemed the happiest carefree smile in the world on his face when I took his photo.

Hydroponic strawberry - 6/22/10 - photo by Matt Wittmeyer
A very cool couple out in Penn Yan, NY just started this hydroponic strawberry farm. On 1/3 of an acre they can produce as many plants as traditional strawberry farms produce on 1 to 1 & 1/2 acres….Very cool..
Bird vs. Hawk - 6/20/10 - photo by Tina Yee
While covering the LPGA Pro Am I saw this hawk hanging out and a bird trying to dive bomb it. I was hoping to catch the activity but of course timing is everything. If you look in the upper right hand corner you’ll see the bird leaving the scene.

Driving home from an assignment in Canandaigua tonight I saw a great fleeting sunset from my car. I had my cameras on the front seat so I grabbed the one with a 70-200 mm lens on it and made about six frames as I drove along 490. Sometimes you just get lucky.

I like this photo not because of the composition but because of the content. I was surprised to see the Monroe County deputy when I was going through my out takes when I got back to the office. I was so busy on the scene shooting stills and video that I didn’t notice that the deputy was helping out by using the hose.

On the fourth night of the Jazz Fest I got to hang out with Robin McKelle and her band. Robin is from the area, so the audience was filled with friends and family including Judith Ranaletta who taught Robin about singing and acting in high school.

Second night of the Jazz Fest and I spent it with Brass Jaw - a quartet of Scottish musicians playing at Christ United Church. They played it acoustically and it sounded gorgeous in the church. They would roam the aisles and you’d hear their saxaphones and trumpet rising ethereally into the air.
