Cozy Corner - 03/06/12 - Photo by Tina Yee
I was taking photos of the library for a story and this little boy was so cute just sitting for a few minutes in the corner sucking his fingers while his mom looked over some books two feet away.

Surprise Serenade - 02/29/12 - Photo by Tina Yee
One of my goals when covering a press conference, awards ceremony, or something along those lines is to find something different. I was happy when this happened during a performance of the Yellow Jackets during the University of Rochester’s United Way of Greater Rochester campaign kick off.

I was at Lollypop Farm today for an assignment and as I was leaving this nice orange tabby cat looked out from his enclosure next to this valentine. Since I already have four of my own cats, I couldn’t take him home, but I wish somebody else would :)

Athleticism and Entertainment - 02/27/2012 - Photo by Marie D. De Jesús Photographing a wrestling match in Hamlin is best described as chaotic, but rich in facial expressions, action, theatrics and fun. The assignment came with its complications, as usual, terrible lighting situation, safety concerns and recording clean audio for video. Then again, awesome assignments are never easy.
I post these two photos side-by-side to show two of the many factors in a match. In the left is Jordan taking a moment to focus before a match. He describes his style as a bit less theatrical in comparison to other wrestlers and more athletic. He has taken his time throughout the years to study different techniques and incorporating them in the ring. He describes himself as the “good guy” in the ring. The photograph in the right illustrates the combination of a wrestlers with rough appearances, story lines and raw entertainment.

Students in Lisa Watson’s fourth grade class at School 3 gave a great reaction as they saw their classroom after it had a make over during February break. Besides wanting a vending machine and a hot tub, which they didn’t get, some of the things they wanted a place where they could be quiet by themselves, new books to read from their classroom library and desks. I loved watching the kids dive into their library and hoard books they wanted to read.

Heart - 02/15/12 - Photo by Carlos Ortiz
With a heart on the window from Valentine’s Day, Artist Teresa Malli of Victor was painting at Sanfilippo Art Studio in Victor. Malli who is originally from Poland and has been painting abstract expressionism for the past seven years, was waiting for her son to pick her up. And thank god for that because she told me that usually she wouldn’t have been there at that time. I was looking for someone visibly doing something outside in Victor but was having no luck. And then….. I decided to look inside.

Snowy Day - 02/25/2012 - Photo by Marie D. De Jesús
Today I was on the mission for a weather photo. A bird feeder was not it, of course, but still I made the photo because it was pretty. The birds with their wings opened, the pastel colors of an overcast day and the volume of those tiny birds that we ignore most of the time did it for me. Maybe this is a sign that in a couple of years I’ll join our own D&C bird watcher, Bob Marcotte.
