My best assignment of this past weekend was photographing drag queens Ed Popil and Tom Smalley. The assignment represented a challenge because of the lighting conditions. It was dark and the few lights were creating serious shadows making it difficult to make photos that could represent them fairly. At the same time, I was recording video for the online version of the story, but Popil and Smalley were great, worth the challenge. The photo in the top is Tom Smalley wearing a replica of the custom that Madonna used during the “Blonde Ambition” tour in 1991.
