A snowy goodbye - 01/05/2010 - Photo by Annette Lein

I spent Tuesday morning with fellow photographer Will Yurman photographing the funeral of U.S. Army Spec. Jason Johnston who was killed in Afghanistan on December 26th.  Will photographed at the church and along the route to the cemetery while I stayed in the area for the media at the cemetery. We were positioned across from the grave site with a section of military graves separating us from the mourners.  The  constant snow made the scene almost ethereal as the honor guard folded the flag from atop Johnston’s casket and handed it to his parents.
