Jump For Joy - 02/09/10 - photo by Will Yurman

I went to photograph the Jump Rope for Heart at French Road Elementary School. It may be my fourth time photographing the event where fifth graders raise money for the American Heart Association. It’s a gymnasium full of kids jumping rope and playing and having fun and a bit overwhelming at first as you look around for a good photo. I usually spend the first few minutes at these kinds of events just looking around, trying to figure out who to focus on and what to shoot. Sam Ravina was so full of energy and excitement he was hard to miss, and easy to photograph.
