Covering events related to tragic deaths is always hard. As a photographer you want to make a photo that shows the pain and the loss, but still be respectful of your subjects. The family of Ya-Sin Yawn held prayer gathering for friends and family at the site of Yawn’s murder at 526 Thurston Rd on Sunday afternoon. Rodney Hardrick, a friend of Yawn’s stood silently in the late afternoon sun, a tear rolling down his cheek. It was heartbreaking  and I hope conveys the senselessness of Yawn’s murder and how it has affected those he left behind.
