True North Rochester Prep third grade students await for their turn to get inside of their classroom after enjoying a play by the Rochester Children’s Theater, Wed., May 1, 2013. The leaders and teachers divide the groups by grade. But each grade has various individual groups which are identified with the name of a higher level educational institution like U of R. Each group makes it to their classroom strictly organized from the auditorium taking advantage of the limited space available for so many students on the hall ways.

A Rochester officer was injured in a fight during an attempted arrest at a Lake Avenue apartment building. I was just struck by the person standing outside his door so close to a cop who was searching for the man in the area with what looks like a gun and flashlight.

I spent a few hours with Foreigner former lead singer, Lou Gramm yesterday. For those like me who were too tiny to enjoy his golden years, he is the one that sings ”Waiting For A Girl Like You.”

The photo shoot went smooth, but as always, too short. Still I pulled out my LED spot light and was able to make a few portraits that could reflect his enthusiasm for muscle cars.

During the New York Governor Andrew Cuomo visit to Rochester I took my time to observe him. The first photograph he seemed completely submerged into his own thoughts ignoring the the crowd surrounding him. Is like everything around him is a blur frozen in time. The second photo he listens to opposite arguments sitting on the hot chair of the D&C editorial board. I made countless photographs of the governor that day, but this two reflects the best the ours he spent in time.

Holi which is a Hindu celebration commemorating the beginning of new and prosperous times as the spring time arrives. But other than splashing colored dust at strangers, is an opportunity to embrace each other. I have not being hugged by so many unknown people as I did as I was photographing this festival. The event gave opportunity to do a video and to shoot many portraits with my iphone.

My best story today is of a volunteer at Golisano Children’s Hospital named Ed Yantz, 78, of Henrietta who has been lending his arms for service and love for over 15 years. Yantz gives the attention of a grandfather to the children ill at the different units by playing with them, feeding them and strolling the hallways so they can enjoy the facilities while the parents can have a second to enjoy a meal or tend to something. What other better way to spend your retirement years than being of aid to children in need of attention.

I left the hospital with my heart hanging from a thread and with a knot on my throat, but amazed by the dedicated work of the staff and volunteers.

I placed Ed holding Brooke Ellis of Brighton by the shy light coming from the window giving enough space to show the tubes hanging from Brooke.

There are certain players at any level that I enjoy watching, as they are clearly above their peers and fun to watch. Bishop Kearny’s Antwoine Anderson is just that type of player for me. When capturing images of a BK boys basketball game, the hard part isn’t getting a good image, it’s get an image I love that someone other than Antwoine. Here, in the state semifinal, he literally hurdled a Troy player, a 6’1” player mind you, en route to the basket.

As the West Webster Fire Explorers realice how cold Maggie Dobner is, her friends gather around to warm her up with a big hug. I appreciate her expression, but also Jason Sansone’s which seems content with the intimate moment. This was after the Explorers participated on the St. Patrick’s Day Parade with the West Webster Fire Dept. firefighters and officers.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I photographed Jack Kelleher of Victor yesterday during the St. Patty’s Parade in Rochester while he was greeting the audience on the side lines. He handed green flowers and danced to the contagious Irish music. I liked this photographed because it seemed for a moment everything froze in time, the flurries stood still mid way to the ground, the music stopped and the Irish flags became still.

During the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Rochester as always Civil War reenactors participated. When they were putting away there things at the end of the parade, I put down my bulky DSLR got close to them and took photos with my iPhone so it didn’t feel as intrusive. Plus a vintage look was a must for the occasion. I photographed details of their uniforms, a soldier smoking a cigarette and a father and his child sharing the same love for historical reenactment. I wanted photos for myself after a long day photographing the festivities.
