And let me tell you, this wasn’t one of those 14-16 hr days with makeup artists, hair stylists, wardrobe stylist, second and third assistants, producer, etc. And that’s what we do in news, make it short and sweet but effective and lasting. I photographed model Emily Addison at the Rochester Public Market without having seen her before, not knowing the final location, colors of the clothes she would wear and hoping she would not be too shy for the cover. A cloudy and windy day actually helped. I have a few other photos from the three minutes this horse was mugging at the camera for me but this was my favorite. De Jesús</p> <p>     The series of portraits are of authors of the book “Mothering: An Art of the Heart,” mothers themselves and residents of the Rochester area. Each lady brought photos of specific moments of their personal history somehow related to the stories they wrote for the book. I scouted for seven different locations in the home they were gathered and made the photos. It was a rainy day so I placed them near windows taking advantage of the soft light and asked them to hold the portraits of the families. De Jesús </p> <p>     I accompanied Doug Bernier and his wife Sarah for a walk to Java’s Cafe for some family time last week. During baseball season their time together is limited but precious. After coffee, tea and over 300 photos of them with their daughter, we headed back to the hotel. On our way back, I walked ahead and made a photo of them passing by the oversize Rochester poster in downtown. De Jesús </p> <p>The family of Katharina Lawn who was murdered five years ago, still wonder who is the one responsible for her death. Today I accompanied them to her grave in Greece. Lawn’s brother Georg Maurer is still visibly affected by her death, “she’s not the only one that died that day”, said Maurer when he spoke about his pain. De Jesús</p> <p>The highlight of my day was an hour or two in Webster with Doreen Kula of Avon and her handsome Andalusian stallion named Festivo. I was surrounded by the trainer, the owner and a friend of the owner, they described the tall horse as a ballerina for his slim long legs and regal posture, I agreed. Festivo was graceful, calm and mostly charismatic. De Jesús</p> <p>The Chinese School of Rochester dance students gave a taste of their heritage to 50 seniors in Webster. The school wants to pass the Chinese tradition of honoring their elders to their students. As soon as I arrived to Baywinde Senior Living Community in Webster I went right away to make photos of the young dancers helping each other fix the last details of their folkloric colorful dresses. De Jesús</p> <p>The Syracuse Orange football team came to share spring practice action with Rochesterians at the Sahlen’s Stadium. I could not ask for a better day to photograph the Orange team, it was relatively warm and the light was nice too. Hard to bring out the faces under the helmet, but I managed. It was the only remains beside the pews that a congregation had worshiped there at one time. The light and the color of the wall makes the piano blend into it dilapidated surroundings.
